Aug 2 A.M. - Flatley Island, Iceland
In the morning we visited Flatley Island which is a small privately owned island, and the captain knows the guy and he allows Iceland Pro Cruises to come on his land as long as we all stay on the mowed paths. It´s a natural haven for birdlife and home to the nesting arctic terns and puffins.
We had to be careful not to get attacked by the Arctic Terns which can dive bomb you and peck you if they feel you are a threat to their nests. We didn't have any issues.
There are no facilities on the island.
For
the walk back to the Zodiacs it rained a bit, enough to put up the hoods on the
jackets that worked well in the rain.
The afternoon will be in a separate post.
